End of the Year

The summer term at Broadfield Primary School was jam-packed with lots of amazing learning and events!

We had our first ever Summer Barbeque, which was a resounding success.  Special thanks go to Mrs Turner and her parent helpers for making the afternoon such a great event.

Our school councillors ended the year on a high by going on a trip to London.  As part of their visit, they had a tour of the Houses of Parliament and visited many major landmarks.  The children represented Broadfield Primary School amazingly well, recieving compliments from members of  the public on their behaviour.   The school council hosted many events throughout the year to raise money for their trip.  Well done to them!

A Prayer for Peace

The following poem is from children in Ash who have been writing poems (as part of their work on prayers for Broadfield) such a poem is particularly poignant at this time.

Prayer for Peace
At Broadfield School we pray for peace,
We wish all wars would totally cease,
Why can’t they learn to get along,
End this violence it feels so wrong.
They fight for control fight for land,
We can all lend a helping hand.
Just try to be kind spread love not hate,
A world without violence would be so great
We need to be gentle it’s not about being tougher,
As wars break out so many suffer.
So here we pray for peace instead,
Love not war is what we’ll spread.
We pray for those in conflict now,
Hoping our prayers will help somehow.
The innocent lives taken by war,
Families shattered to their core.
Love and hope are what will fuel,
Our fight for PEACE; Love Broadfield School

Sports Teams Spring 2016

This past half term has been very eventful for our school sports teams.

Both Yr3/4 Boys and Girls Football Teams Won the West Oldham Cluster Competition at Hathershaw School. The girls only conceded one goal and won every game!

Our TriGolf Team putted and chipped their way through to second place against 5 other teams in the Tri-Golf School Games Competition at Counthill Sports Hall.

Netball Year 5/6 Girls came second in the West Oldham Cluster competition at Hathershaw School. Brilliant matches, just lost out on first place in the last match losing to Alexandra Park School. Well done girls!

Sports Week

The week beginning 14th March 2016 was sports week. The children took part in many activities including the Sports Relief mile in Alexandra Park for KS2 or round the pitch for KS1, as well as a dodgeball tournament which culminated in the winners taking on the staff on the Friday. Great fun was had by all!
