Welcome to Year 2
This term our topic is Memory Box. Can you remember being small? Being a baby and learning to crawl? Do you recall a favourite toy, maybe a teddy bear or a best-loved book?
Memories are special...Let's make some more!
On Wednesday 19th September we will be having a meeting for KS1 parents at 9am in the hall. Some of the KS1 teachers will be discussing what to expect this year and answering any questions.
We will be continuing to send a library book home with your child every week as well as a guided reading book. Reading is extremely important and one of our school targets is to encourage your child to love reading. Please read with your child as often as possible and write a short comment in their reading record. Remember they can read books at their level online using Bug Club.
Doors open at 8.50 am. Please make sure your child gets to school on time every day as it is difficult to make up work if it has been missed. If, however, your child is really ill then please keep them at home and let us know as soon as possible.
All children need a P.E. kit clearly labelled with their name - this will help us to identify any clothing that gets lost.
Indoor P.E. on Wednesday am: kit is plain yellow or white t-shirt, navy blue or black P.E. shorts or leggings and black pumps.
Outdoor P.E. on Thursday pm: kit is blue or black tracksuit, yellow or white t-shirt and trainers.
P.E. kits can be left in school and taken home at halfterm to be washed.
For Health and Safety reasons, earrings must be removed on days when your child has P.E. Alternatively, your child can bring in plasters to cover the earrings.
In science we will be looking at the human body.
We will use ICT in order to support other subjects. We aim to teach all children to use the internet safely and would appreciate your support in making sure your child knows what they can or cannot look at on the internet/ video games.
In R.E. this half term we will be looking at Identity.
Homework will be given out every Friday. Please support your child to complete homework neatly and bring it back to school each Monday. Please also encourage your child to practise Year 2 maths targets: number bonds to 10, 20 and 100 and 2, 5, 10 and 3 times tables and related division facts (e.g. if 3x5=15 then 15÷5=3). Children need to be secure with these facts and be able to recall them rapidly.
Thank You for your continued support.
