Welcome back to Willow Class, we hope you all had an enjoyable holiday.
We will be continuing to send a library book home with your child every week as well as a guided reading book. Reading is extremely important and one of our school targets is to encourage your child to love reading. In order to support you in this, you are invited to come and help your child choose a book from our class library every Friday at 3.15pm. Children can also come and choose a book from our school library every Monday, Tuesday or Thursday after school. Remember they can read books at their level online using Bug Club.
Doors open at 8.50 am. Please make sure your child gets to school on time every day as it is difficult to make up work if it has been missed. If, however, your child is really ill then please keep them at home and let us know as soon as possible.
All children need a P.E. kit clearly labelled with their name - this will help us to identify any clothing that gets lost.
Indoor P.E. on Wednesday am: kit is plain yellow or white t-shirt, navy blue or black P.E. shorts or leggings and black pumps.
Outdoor P.E. on Thursday pm: kit is blue or black tracksuit, yellow or white t-shirt and trainers.
P.E. kits can be left in school and taken home at halfterm to be washed.
For Health and Safety reasons, earrings must be removed on days when your child has P.E. Alternatively, your child can bring in plasters to cover the earrings.
Our Science topic this term is Animals and Plants
We will use ICT in order to support other subjects. We aim to teach all children to use the internet safely and would appreciate your support in making sure your child knows what they can or cannot look at on the internet/ video games.
Our topic this half term is ‘The Enchanted Woodland’. We will be visiting the local park to explore the different types of plants and animals that can be found in a woodland habitat. We will design and make our own mini woodland habitats using different materials collected during our visit.
Linking with our Science topic on animals, we will be exploring the religion of Hinduism. We will also learn about the important Christian celebration of Easter
Homework will be given out every Friday. Please support your child to complete homework neatly and bring it back to school each Monday. Please also encourage your child to practise Year 2 maths targets: number bonds to 10, 20 and 100 and 2, 5, 10 and 3 times tables and related division facts (e.g. if 3x5=15 then 15÷5=3). Children need to be secure with these facts and be able to recall them rapidly.
Thank You for your continued support.
