Welcome Back!

We hope you all had an enjoyable holiday. This is an extremely important term for all our children. Year 2 children will be doing SATs and there will be teacher assessments for all children. Year 1 children will be taking their phonic assessments in June.

Reading Books

Reading is extremely important and one of our school targets is to encourage your child to love reading.

Attendance was an issue for some children last term. It is very important for your child to attend school as work missed cannot be repeated. However if your child is really ill, please keep them at home and let us know as soon as possible.
Please ensure that your child arrives at school on time. Doors open at 8.50 am.

All children need an outdoor P.E kit. Children will need a blue or black tracksuit and trainers for outdoor P.E. Girls will need to remove earrings for P.E.

In literacy we have been looking at expanded noun phrases.

In maths this term we have been focussing on fractions

Our Science topics this term are 'Bounce' and 'Moon Zoom'. We will be learning about things that bounce and space.

We also had a science challenge in which the children competed to create the strongest structure.

We will be using ICT to support other subjects and the children will be taught to use the internet safely to do their own research and to use different Word programs to create labels, posters and other images for displays.

Religious Education

In R.E. we will be learning about what it is like to be a Christian or a Muslim.

Our Topics this term are 'Bounce' and 'Moon Zoom'. We hope this will be an opportunity to do some very exciting activities. We will send you any information nearer the time.
We will be learning about things that bounce e.g. kangaroos, space travel and the planets.

Homework will be given out every Friday and needs to be completed neatly and brought back in for Monday. Please continue to practise Year 2 targets. These are 2, 5 and 10 times tables and related inverse division facts (e.g. 2x5=10 and 5x2=10 so 10÷5=2 and 10÷2=5). They need to be secure with these facts and be able to recall them rapidly. Please feel free to teach your child other times tables as this will help them when they move to Year 3.

If you need any more information about how we can help you support your child, please ask.
